My laboratory focuses on angiogenesis, vascular remodeling, and related diseases in cellular and molecular levels. Angiogenesis is a process of blood vessel formation and normally occur during growth and development. Uncontrolled angiogenesis may cause a variety of symptoms in diseases like tumor angiogenesis and inflammation. Thus, the regulation of angiogenesis is quite important for preventing or ameliorating several disease symptoms. We are currently focusing on the cellular interaction between the cellular components of vascular microenvironment. Specifically, we are focusing on Angiopoetin/Tie system and the role of peri-endothelial cells in the maintenance of vascular integrity and vascular remodeling.
